An Accidental Research Study - Part 1

I “accidentally” kicked off an ongoing research study. Yes, yes, you read that correctly. It was an accident.

I’ve been connecting with fellow researchers to discuss all things related to research. It’s been a mix of first-time meet and greets and catching up with old friends and colleagues.

Along the way, more than a few said, “you know, it sounds like you’re running a study” when I mentioned some consistent themes emerging in conversations. So here we are. I accidentally started running a research study about researchers.

Because it’s research, I thought it would be good to start with a high-level overview:

✅ Goals & Objectives: Connect with fellow researchers, including all of the types of research, UX, market, industry and compete, plus designers
✅ Methodology: 30-minute online / in-person conversations discussing path to research, current roles and “other, including catching up on life”
✅ Target recruit: Researchers and designers
✅ Timeline: Ongoing.

Three insights have emerged from this ongoing “study”:
🌟 We are deeply passionate about research in all of its forms (UX, market, compete, etc.).
🌟 We are not threatened by AI, rather, we see tremendous long-term benefits.
🌟 We are concerned about job security and job prospects.

There's a lot to uncover, so I'm going to make this post the first of three posts, digging deeper into each insight. Stay tuned!
